If you are in the position to only buy one disc as a beginner, we think you should start with a mid-range. With disc speeds between 4-6 (most commonly 5), mid-range discs are ideal for the beginner. They feature a dull, beveled edge and a moderate rim width making it initially more comfortable in the hand. Offering more control than drivers, they also require less speed to carry further distances than putters and approach discs.
